The staff of the Learning Enrichment Center (LEC) works with students from all divisions who are capable of succeeding in the All Saints academic program but whose identified learning differences require them to approach the curriculum in different ways. In the Lower School and Intermediate School, students enrolled in the LEC receive language therapy and intervention through multi-sensory, systematic, direct instruction to develop and advance the academic skills they will need as they progress through the school’s curriculum. In grades 2-6 the program Take Flight is used. Take Flight is a comprehensive, ungraded, sequential, curriculum using multi-sensory teaching techniques for basic instruction in reading, writing, and spelling. This program is specifically designed for children who have a “language learning difference” which requires special methods and materials. However, Take Flight has also proven successful for children needing basic instruction and/or as language enrichment. In grades 7-12, the LEC offers executive functioning training, academic assistance and a structured study hall where students can get help on all their classes. Each grade has a white board that shows all the assignments coming up for the week, tests, projects, and any other pertinent information. The LEC also monitors the grades of their students, sitting down and discussing the grades, so the students will understand how their classes are going, and if the student has missing assignments help them get caught up. We also help students organizing a research paper, go over novels that the students are being taught and tested over, and review any assignment they might not understand. Organizational and study skills are also taught. The LEC has a quiet testing area for the students. They know they can come in here and take a test without all the distractions of a classroom.Speech and Language Therapy Services
