Empowering Discoveries

In the 35 years since our school’s founding, the world has changed.  All Saints Episcopal School has remained steadfast to its mission.  We enable our teachers to say to students: Discover Your All.  The ability for students to Discover their academic strengths, Discover their artistic talents, Discover their athletic ability and to Discover what it means to grow spiritually in our world today is the essence of the All Saints fund. 

Many of these Discoveries are made possible by your generous support of The All Saints Fund, the school’s annual fund.

Each pillar of the school is essential for the success of our students

Academics: The All Saints Fund allows our teachers to continue to become better educators and build upon their areas of expertise. Your gift to the academic pillar will enhance our rich curriculum, technology, the Learning Enrichment Center and all educational Discoveries. You may also give a gift in honor of a respected faculty member.

Fine Arts: Music, theater, and the visual arts enable our students to Discover new talents and passions thanks to your All Saints Fund support.  Donating to this pillar will allow our teachers to inspire a student to become a musician, an actor, a painter, a sculptor, a poet, a debater…an All Saints artist.  You may also donate in honor of a Fine Arts faculty member who is inspiring your child to become an artist.

Athletics: Athletics and physical education are important components of every student’s growth and development. Your support of the Athletics pillar will further enable our students to Discover their athletic talents and offer them state-of -the art programs and equipment. You may also give a gift in honor of a coach who is leading your child to success on and off the playing field.

Spirituality: As the premier private school in East Texas, we have a responsibility to entrust in our students what it means to grow spiritually in our world today.  Funds to this pillar will support all community service initiatives, financial aid, mission trips, and spiritual education.

Where the School Needs it Most: While The All Saints Fund supports every area of the school, some needs are greater than others.  The school will use money given to this area to Empower Discoveries.

Should a fund become oversubscribed, the school will use the funds where it is needed most.

 JOB DESCRIPTION

Students who entered events were:  Osub Lee, who received 52 of our 101 points, Katherine Beall, Perry Clements, Cameron Huckabee, M.E. Smith, Rachel Cooper, Lauren Birtcher, Amy Park, Ari Blau, Cloyee’ Johnson, Madisen Seidel, Derrel Hall, and Austin Reed.  The following students traveled to Austin with us to participate in on-site events:  Osub Lee, M.E. Smith, Ari Blau, Austin Reed, Amy Park, and Derrel Hall. 

Twenty seven schools participated in the 4-A Competition, so it is quite a distinction to have placed second.  We are proud of our All Saints artists.

All Saints Episcopal School seeks a Full Time Upper School Math Teacher for the 2013 – 2014 School Year. 

The ideal candidate will be a mid-career professional with an independent school background, a bachelor’s degree in math and a deep commitment to working with students. Compensation and benefits are consistent with other area independent schools and adjusted based on candidate qualifications.  Masters degree is preferred.

Our talented Upper School art students competed in the District TAPPS Art Contest in Carrollton on Friday, February 22.  Of the five schools competing, All Saints came in first place with 182 points, 45 points ahead of second place.  As a testament to the talents of our students and teachers, All Saints students took 1^st place in eight categories, Drawing-Black and White, Drawing-Color, Applied Design, Painting, Relief / 2D Mixed Media, Sculpture, Senior Portfolio, and Art History.  25 art students will be advancing to the State TAPPS Contest on March 22.  

The candidate will possess a master’s degree; ideally, at least three years administrative experience in an independent college counseling or a college admissions office.  Under the supervision of the Head of Upper School, the Director of College Advising will be responsible for the following:

• Counsel and schedule over 100 rising 11^th and 12^th grade students in academic and college decisions annually.
• Meet with individual students and parents regarding post-secondary placement by conducting individual advising, group advising through classroom instruction, and college night programs.
• Write an individual counselor recommendation for each applicant; coordinate the collection of teacher recommendations for application processing.
• Proof and process student college and scholarship application to ensure families that all application will meet required deadlines and component requirements.
• Serve as a liaison for students when dealing with college admission representatives; advocate for students in the process and facilitate admission appeals when it is the wish of the families. Serve as liaison for students to universities, the College Board, ETS and community agencies.
• Give workshops on college essay writing, test-taking skills, score interpretation, career exploration and college exploration.
• Develop and supervise the updated college counseling publications (College Handbook, Summer Enrichment Programs Handbook, Upper School Course Catalog, US Preview Catalog for Rising 9^th Graders, Weekly email blasts or newsletters on scholarships, financial aid, and general information)
• Supervise a full-time Associate College Advisor.
• Work with the Head of Upper School on other duties as assigned.

The candidate will possess a master’s degree; ideally, at least three years’ administrative experience. The Upper School Dean of Students is a full time administrative position in the All Saints Upper School of over 220 students and reports to the division head. Position may include one academic section and an advisory.

Position is primarily responsible for shaping the character of the community to foster respect for school policies, personnel and fellow students. As such, monitors the morale and welfare of the student community advocating for individual students or student programs as needed. The Dean of Students is the primary administrator for ensuring compliance with the student handbook in non-academic matters and adjudicates infractions accordingly. In matters of major discipline makes recommendations to the division head and similarly makes recommendations on policy. Oversees all student organizations and faculty sponsors. Works in collaboration with faculty to ensure the smooth operation of the school day and the routine procedures that accompany it.

Is fluent in the conversations that are often required with adolescents as well as their parents to ensure students learn from mistakes and are productive members of the All Saints community. Carries out additional duties as may be assigned by the division head or head of school.
